Buy shirts for less: 7 tips for the best price
A new club shirt can quickly cost €90 or more – yet the same item can often be found much cheaper. With these seven tips you’ll pay no more than necessary when buying a shirt, without compromising on quality or authenticity.
1. Compare prices before you buy
For one and the same shirt, different shops often charge double-digit euro differences – for identical goods. The most effective saving tip is therefore the simplest: never buy at the first shop. On Trikot Scout the offers of all partner shops come together per shirt, sorted by the lowest price – so you see the best deal at a glance instead of checking ten shops individually.
2. Go for previous-season and clearance models
As soon as a club unveils its new shirt, previous-season prices drop sharply – often by 40 to 60%. If you don’t strictly need the very latest design, go for the previous year’s model and save the most. Every comparison page also shows older seasons.
3. Take advantage of sale periods
Around the end of the season, Black Friday, winter and summer sales and after a shirt launch, many shops lower their prices. It pays to schedule your purchase – if possible – for these periods. The price history on the shirt page shows you whether a current “deal” really is one.
4. Choose Replica over Authentic
Manufacturers offer two versions: the Replica (fan version) and the Authentic or match version that matches the player shirt. The Authentic uses more technical material and is noticeably more expensive. For the stands or everyday wear, the Replica is enough – same design, much lower price.
5. Choose printing deliberately
Player name and squad number (printing) drive up the price and are charged separately. A shirt without printing is cheaper – and you can add the print later. When comparing, check whether an offer is listed with or without printing.
6. Spot and avoid fakes
A price far below all others is rarely a bargain, but usually a sign of a fake. Warning signs are made-up shops with no imprint, payment by advance transfer only, incorrect manufacturer logos and blurry product photos. When in doubt, buy from official retailers – all shops listed on Trikot Scout are regular affiliate programmes, not dubious offers.
7. Time your purchase right
Shirt prices aren’t static – they fall over the season but rise again before major tournaments and during supply shortages. If you’re flexible, watch the price history on the shirt page and strike when the curve is low. National shirts in particular are expensive just before World and European Championships and often on sale afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
- When are shirts cheapest?
- Shirts are usually cheapest at the end of the season and after the launch of the new collection, when previous-season models are cleared out, as well as during sale periods such as Black Friday. National shirts are cheapest after major tournaments.
- What is the difference between a Replica and an Authentic shirt?
- The Replica (fan version) is the cheaper option with classic fabric; the Authentic matches the player shirt with more technical material and a slimmer cut and is more expensive. The design is the same for both.
- How can I recognise a fake shirt?
- Typical warning signs are a strikingly low price, shops with no imprint, payment by advance transfer only, incorrect logos and blurry product photos. When in doubt, buy from official retailers.
